Big City Montessori School
About
BCMS, a preschool and daycare, offers a joyful learning experience with devoted teachers and boundless knowledge. They prioritize providing a well-rounded education that allows students to learn at their own pace and explore their own interests. The school’s goals include fostering independence, concentration, and imagination in their students. BCMS has been serving children for 50 years, beginning in 1972 as Westlake Montessori School before moving to their current location in 1980 and changing their name to Big City Montessori School. The school is still family-owned and operated by Amanda Riccetti, the daughter of the founders. Amanda, who took over as director in 1999, has created a staff of highly trained and dedicated individuals with an average tenure of 8-15 years. BCMS features three primary Montessori classrooms with mixed ages and provides a full-time, year-round program with a 9-1/2-hour daily schedule. They offer flexibility with drop-off and pick-up times and do not require children to be potty trained. The school provides meals prepared daily in their certified kitchen, enrichment classes in subjects such as art, music, and yoga, and regular communication with parents to ensure a strong connection between home and school.
