Pacific Primary School
About
Pacific Primary School has a long history of valuing diversity, equity, and inclusion. Since its establishment in 1974, the school has prioritized creating a welcoming community for families and educators from various backgrounds. In light of recent events highlighting racism and exclusion in society, the school is issuing a stand-alone statement reaffirming its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
The school incorporates these values into its curriculum through developmentally appropriate practices, such as modeling and teaching peaceful conflict resolution. Children are taught about fairness and equity, and diverse children’s books are utilized to emphasize the importance of diversity. Additionally, the school holds a Peace Parade each year to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and other peacemakers.
The school values the diverse racial, cultural, ethnic, socioeconomic, and family backgrounds within its community. It recognizes that diversity provides valuable learning opportunities for children to learn from those with different life experiences. This commitment to diversity influences all aspects of the school, including admissions policies, tuition assistance, professional development, curriculum implementation, staff hiring, and board recruitment.
Pacific Primary School explicitly denounces bigotry, hatred, and exclusion in any form, including racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, and other forms of oppression. The school is dedicated to providing a safe and inclusive space for all students, families, and staff members.
