Sunset Mesa School

Sunset Mesa Day School was the first kindergarten school in Albuquerque, founded by Mrs. Beatrice Adkins. She enrolled children aged 4-6, with kindergarten age children placed in a junior or senior kindergarten class depending on their developmental readiness. The school moved to its current location in 1962 and has since expanded to include a program for first through fifth grade. Sunset Mesa focuses on providing a strong academic foundation and encouraging ethical behavior in students. It also offers enrichment classes such as computer, art, music, Spanish, and physical education. The school now operates under the direction of Mr. and Mrs. Mask.
